Help Preserve Texas history

Dear Friends,

Since its construction in 1882, Polly's Chapel has been the site for baptisms, weddings and civic activities. The names of Bird, Tobin, Langford as well as Rodriguez, Herrera and Torres have long graced the annals of this Chapel's history. This year, the Board of Directors of the Polly Texas Pioneer Association will continue to restore and preserve Polly’s Chapel and Polly’s Cemetery. Hats off to all that helped with this wonderful accomplishment.

Remaining restoration includes the interior and exterior painting. As such, over the years, the community has also joined in helping preserve this historic Bandera landmark and Polly’s legend. The continued maintenance and remaining restoration required are expensive and challenging. Therefore, we are seeking contributions and support from individuals, businesses and organizations for this effort.

As such, on May 21, 2016, come join us as we will be conducting a combination Bandera Heritage Luncheon and Bandera History Auction at the historic Chapel Grounds. At 11:00 am, a benediction will be offered at the Chapel, welcoming remarks and introduction of our featured speaker. This will be followed by fellowship, music and tours of the Chapel. Then, at noon-time, a country style Bar b Que will be served with all the trimmings. The tickets for the lunch are $10.00.

For orders, tickets and more information please call Ms. Anna Lunoff at 210-364-7096. After lunch, a Live Frontier Auction will begin with original and reproductions of Texas Ranger, military, election, school and commissioner court records. Maps, photos and Cattle brands will also be offered. Art and other items will also be available.

At this time we ask for your support, contribution, auction item and or volunteer to make this very worthwhile event a success and help preserve one of Bandera’s most valuable landmarks. The event will take place on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 11:00am in the morning till 2:00pm in the afternoon. All proceeds will benefit the restoration of the historic chapel and cemetery.

Respectfully,

Anna Lunoff
