Who We are

Polly Texas Pioneer Association is dedicated to preserving Texas Hill Country heritage and legacy. We are a non-profit 501.c.3 organization created in 2003 dedicated to acquiring, restoring, preserving, maintaining and operating historic properties in and near the original pioneer settlement of Polly, Texas in Bandera County, Texas. Also, providing
on-site and outreach educational programs about the early pioneers and settlers in this area of the State of Texas.

“The story of Polly and his contributions to the development of Texas are important to remember and preserve.”

— Rudi Rodriguez, Vice Chairman

Jose Policarpio “Polly” Rodriguez

As the current Chairwoman of our association, I thank all our family, friends, supporters, and the Bandera Community who have helped preserve Polly’s Chapel, cemetery, and the legacy of Jose Policarpio “Polly” Rodriguez in the past.

Our namesake, Jose Policarpio “Polly” Rodriguez was quite well known in the San Antonio and Bandera area in the mid-1800s. He was a true Tejano pioneer because he served for many years as a scout and guide to numerous U.S. generals helping develop the roads and towns that would help cultivate travel and commerce in early Texas. He also served his community as a Texas Ranger, and Justice of the Peace, and became a successful rancher.

This website features information on the exciting programs we have begun, such as restoration, landscaping, history, membership, and a capital campaign. Also, on our website, you will find information on the rental uses available for various occasions.

Sincerely,

Anna Lunoff
Chairwoman

Current Project

Polly’s Schoolhouse Restoration

Thanks to the support of family, friends, and the community, we are underway with the restoration of Polly’s Schoolhouse. The next phase of this project is the Doors and Windows.

Our Mission

Today, we have the continued and significant challenges in preserving and restoring the historical landmarks and maintaining and improving the grounds. As a new generation of family members and community leaders we have committed to championing the legacy of these early Texas pioneers and carefully organizing ourselves into a group that can continue to preserve this legacy. To this end, we have officially obtained a non-profit corporate charter with the following IRS EIN number:45-4036382.

On that note, we have significant plans for the restoration of the Schoolhouse, including replacing windows, doors, and ceilings. Plus, landscaping plans to conserve the grounds surrounding the Schoolhouse, adding a history walk and gazebo for community use. These, and other plans to preserve the cemetery are the work we aspire to complete with the continued help of the community, and family. We thank everyone for their past support and ask that you help us continue to preserve the legacy and Texas history!
